The Puppy, The Jeep and other items I haven’t even gotten to

Aside

Way behind on my list of stuff to get up here, but here are the important items:

  • We got a puppy!! Cassie a schnoodle, who is playful, fun, and very cute.
  • I got a Jeep! A few months ago, actually. Updates/upgrades/fixes have been numerous, need to get the work log started. In the mean time I’m tracking my fuel usage with fuelly, check it out here:Fuelly
  • The kitchen is no longer green!! Thanks to my mom, it’s a nice shade of white on the cabinets.
  • I got a water softener! Woo! Fixed the dishwasher, and unplugged all my appliances. I can now do laundry, dishes and shower with some amazing water pressure and soft water!!
  • The Theater has new pictures in it, thanks to Michelle who got me some awesome art for Christmas.
  • I got engaged (see post below and chris-n-michelle.com)

Okay, That’s my visual commitment to come back and make real posts on these things…

Adding in wall wiring, rear channels

Aside

Got a nice package from monoprice the other day! 250 ft of cabling, in-ceiling speakers for the rear channels and a smattering of banana plugs. I’ve ran the cabling for the front three channels and have plates ready etc, just need a saw to cut the wallboard since it’s not drywall. I haven’t tore into the ceiling to cut holes for the rear channels, need to see which stud cavity is going to be easiest and paint the speakers first. Also replaced the outlet/HDMI on the ceiling from a 3 gang to a 3 gang recessed so it looks much nicer and more finished.

Pics as soon as I get a chance to finish the rear channels etc.

Vega Restoration Update

The corvette got sold. So did the mini. Needless to say the garage is lonely with just the truck and the vega.. so, it’s time to get going on the vega!

Thanks to help in the engine tech section over at H-Body.org I’ve gotten it running but am having fuel delivery issues. Carb will likely need to be rebuilt due to excessive varnish action. Why bother if I’m planning an engine swap?  I’d like to drive the car some to see what i like/don’t like about it. How much more power does it need? Hows the suspension? etc. I’ve never driven a running HBody, figure I can get the wheezy 140 going and at least put put it around and build some impressions.

Cleanup inside has started. My barn pasture find is pretty dirty and even has the added perk of some mold growing here and there. I’ve dried it out, and started with some mold specific cleaners and leather/vinyl cleaner / treaters. Photos below.

Authorize.net Card-Not-Present POS

I began work today on an Authorize.net Card-Not-Present POS software. To anyone who knows what I’m talking about, that seems backwards, as POS implies card-present. That’s what Authorize.net would like you to keep remembering, as you sign up for both an ecommerce (card -not-present) and card present gateway. The difference between the two, is that card present can send track information from authorized devices, and forget the AVS authorization.  My POS program will circumvent that issue by taking a cardswipe and parsing it out and posting it to Auth.net through the AIM API just as a web call would, but without asking for more than a swipe of a card in most cases. This of course requires internet on a terminal, but who can’t find a mobile hot spot device these days? I’m writing it in Visual Studio 2010 as a Visual C# application. Look for the beta in the next couple weeks.

Edit: here is the Alpha-Alpha Version. In order to actually process charges you must have AVS and CCV turned completely off in auth.net (not suggested) and cardswipe is not implemented because I am waiting for mine to come in the mail. UI unorganized but the list box on the right shows you all the info Auth.net returned (so, if it worked etc).   I HIGHLY suggest you don’t process actual payments with this yet. Requires .net framework 4.0
